The charming Osprey trail is a well maintained 4.5 mile out-and-back route that is perfect for a leisurely dog hike in Greensboro.  It is a popular trail for spotting local wildlife, hiking and running, as well as taking in the views of Lake Townsend.  With access points on Yanceyville Rd (ample parking can be found there) and Church St., this trail is an excellent choice for dog owners seeking both exercise and nature.

Bicentennial and Bog Gardens - A Unique Trail for Dog Walks

Take your dog on a walk along the paved loop thru Bicentennial and Bog Gardens.  This trail goes thru a lush bog garden filled with native and rare plant species.  You and your pup can watch wild Mallard ducks and enjoy the beauty of a small waterfall. Tanger Bicentennial Garden features a wide variety of plants and flowers, along with plenty of picnic areas. It’s a perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon in Greensboro.

Great Blue Heron Loop Trail - A Peaceful Dog Hike

Discover my favorite spot to take my dogs for a hike—the Great Blue Heron Loop Trail. This 3.5-mile route in northern Greensboro is perfect for a peaceful dog hike, winding through Haw River State Park. Midway through the trail, you'll find a picnic area—an ideal spot for a break during your dog walk. A convenient parking lot (located across from the park's main entrance) offers bathroom facilities. (Note: Don’t confuse this with the Blue Heron Trail, which is part of Greensboro’s Parks and Rec.)

Bald Eagle Trail - A Great Spot for an Extended Hike in Greensboro

You and your dog will love the 7.5 mile out-and-back hike along Bald Eagle Trail, located near Lake Higgins Marina in northern Greensboro. You can turn around at any point to adjust the distance to your liking! This scenic trail winds through the woods with open areas that offer beautiful lake views - perfect for an adventurous dog hike. t’s a great spot for your pup to burn off energy while you both enjoy the beauty of nature..

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park - A Historic Dog Walks

Step into history with a dog walk at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.  This site commemorates the Revolutionary War Battle at Guilford Courthouse and features a 2.5 paved path dotted with monuments and historical exhibits.  The interior trails allow you and your pup to explore the battlefields and discover even more monuments.  Use the National Park Service app for a self-guided tour, and pick up a park map at the Visitor Center (open seven days a week) to help navigate the trails. This popular spot often has plenty of people and pups exploring, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.
